The Value-Proposition That Goes Both Ways
There are very real earnings potential locked in mystery shopping if approached correctly. Similarly, if you know where to look, you can easily spot the myths, half-truths and misconceptions regarding Mystery Shopper.
Initially when you approach clients or try your hands at Mystery Shopper, you might be surprised to find that some
· Treat it suspiciously and expect it to be less than real, truth, meaningful or valuable. Somehow, it gets the bad rep of being fake, fraudulent or watered-down. This is however simply NOT true. Mystery Shopper can yield great earnings and value if approached correctly, with fervor, discipline, commitment, direction and transparency!
· The cost might be considered on the high side for what they get for the service. It is up to you to embody and explain the real value of this investment of time, money, effort and more.
· Most, if not all, you need to know to become a great entrepreneur in the Mystery Shopper industry, field, practice, service intelligence type advisory niche services, is already available in print and online. Many have gone before you and many will still follow there is lots to trade, share, learn and tap into. You do not have to reinvent the wheel and/or start from scratch. Avoiding the pitfalls and mistakes they have made will also go a long way to ensure you start, have and run, manage, grow and expand and thrive in this business!
· Mystery Shopper adds value for individuals, the businesses they collaborate and work with and for, as well as the end-consumers, employees and other. It is a fun activity, with purpose and meaning and market research dollar well spent. It will be highly rewarding for / to you for knowing that you made/make a difference, meaningful contribution and have an impact. This is one of the main reasons, apart from the monetary compensation and enjoyment, satisfaction that people get from this type of business.
· The rules are really simple and basic. If you do what you were hired, secured to do, spend the time, effort and trouble to do a good job accurately, set realistic goals and expectations, diversity your client base, set up referral networking as you go along, building a strong reputation, track record in the process as well as diverse, varied expertise and experiences, your business will not merely survive but thrive. You need to be able to recognize opportunities, creating some where others see none, to become truly successful. You need to stick with it, get exposure, regularly, honing and harnessing your skills to your best ability often (even if you have to volunteer, do some things for free, to show value, it will serve your interests well down the line.
· As a business opportunity, it affords you the luxury of minimal start-up costs and sets the stage to tap into the best skill-set you have to offer prospective clients.
You do need to know how to make these processes, contexts and Mystery Shopper dynamics work in your favor and to your advantage, in the end making your money. It will not happen by itself and overnight. You will have to dedicate the time, energy and effort, do what it takes to get the business off the ground, expand your client base and expertise, get noticed, remembered, valued for the right reasons, referred and called back. That would be the ideal for any Mystery Shopper business owner/operator, representative whether seasoned or novice.
